Zenless Zone Zero Season 2 Launches June 6

Anime-style characters with colorful outfits and a robotic dog from Zenless Zone Zero Season 2 pose dynamically against a bright background.

Zenless Zone Zero kicks off its second season on June 6 with Version 2.0, “Where Clouds Embrace the Dawn.” The update introduces the Waifei Peninsula, a new region in New Eridu filled with new characters, deeper combat, and expanded exploration. It also marks the game’s official release on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

To celebrate the one-year anniversary, HoYoverse is giving away a free S-Rank Agent, a free S-Rank W-Engine, and a bundle of in-game rewards. Whether you’re returning or just getting started, Season 2 looks like a major step forward for the game’s story and systems.

Here’s a closer look at what’s coming in Zenless Zone Zero Season 2.

New Region and City Management Come to Season 2

Season 2 takes you to the Waifei Peninsula, a new part of New Eridu that feels different from what came before. The main city, Failume Heights, has its own shops, tea spots, and even dessert stands. It’s also close to the Lemnian Hollow, where combat takes a step up with wider spaces and tougher enemies.

You’ll also be running the Suibian Temple. That means upgrading its facilities, sending Bangboos on missions, and picking up rewards along the way. It’s a change of pace from just exploring and fighting, giving you more to manage between trips into the Hollows.

Yixuan from Yunkui Summit joins you on this new path, helping tie the story into the region’s new challenges.

A vibrant city gate with shops and tall buildings, set against a rocky, hilly background under a blue sky, captures the dynamic energy of Zenless Zone Zero Season 2.

New Powerful Allies and Tougher Hollows Shake Up Combat

Combat gets a shake-up in Version 2.0 thanks to new enemies, gameplay, and some powerful new faces. The Lemnian Hollow introduces the Miasmic Field, a state where enemies gain shields and extra abilities. It makes fights trickier and gives you more to think about during each run.

To counter that, several new powerful allies join the lineup. Yixuan, also known as the Grandmaster, is an S-Rank unit with a unique combat style. She ignores enemy defenses and powers up based on her attack and max HP. Instead of standard energy, she uses a system called Adrenaline and has two Ultimate modes.

Joining her is Ju Fufu, another S-Rank agent who focuses on Fire and Stun attacks. She builds up power over time and boosts your whole team’s Chain Attacks and Ultimates. There’s also Pan Yinhu, a defense-focused A-Rank agent, and Belion, a new S-Rank Bangboo. Returning banners include Astra Yao and Caesar.

Events, Exploration, and Quality of Life Changes

Season 2 adds more than just story and characters. There are new events, more strategic options, and a few helpful features to make things smoother. Hollow Zero: Lost Void now lets you equip multiple Gears across different agents. It opens up new ways to build your team and tackle harder missions.

You’ll also be able to hang out with characters in a new cinema event called Gravitational Attraction. Watching movies earns you rewards, including an A-Rank W-Engine called the Reel Projector. Another event, Soul of Steel: Golden Bond, lets you pilot mechs through the Hollows for more challenges and loot.

Exploration gets easier too. A new 3D map and improved navigation make it simpler to get around. Fissure Beacons now let you heal, revive, and teleport, which helps when things get messy. If you’ve finished Season 1 Chapter 2 Interlude, you can jump straight into the new storyline.

A blue robot and a black spiked creature battle in a futuristic desert arena, sparks flying from the ground—an epic scene inspired by Zenless Zone Zero Season 2.

Anniversary Rewards and Xbox Launch Round Out the Update

To mark the game’s first anniversary, Version 2.0 gives out a generous set of rewards. You can pick one S-Rank Agent and one S-Rank W-Engine from the Stable Channel for free. On top of that, you’ll get 1,600 Polychromes, 20 Encrypted Master Tapes, 10 Boopons, and new outfits for the main characters. There’s also an exclusive anniversary title and avatar to collect.

June 6 also marks the official launch of Zenless Zone Zero on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Cloud Gaming. An Xbox Starter Pack is already up for pre-order on the Xbox Store. Whether you’re logging in for the first time or returning after a break, there’s a lot waiting for you this season.
